Winter and Wilderness at Varmevoll Lodge

Located at the north shore of lake Møsvatn, is the mountain farm Varmevoll, where you will find the Varmevoll Lodge.

With the Hardangervidda as it`s nearest neighbor, the German musher Silvia Furtwängler offers trips into the wilderness, on sleds pulled by a team of sled dogs
At these trips, the participants will experience the nature, the dogs and them selves; in an entirely  new way.

Join in on a true winter adventure. In close team- work with well trained sled dog, you will be introduced to the beauty of the Norwegian mountains, as well as it’s stern ways.
You can also experience an unforgettable winter evening; with exciting food, and later on, listening to stories in front of the fire place.
The trip starts at Varland (12 kilometer north of Arabu, at Riksveg 37)
The participants will be picked up by snowmobile, which will take them out on an approximately 15 minute journey across the ice of the frozen lake, over to Varmevoll.
At Varmevoll, we will say hello to the dogs, and learn how to drive and steer the dog sled.
After the introduction of tending to the dogs and driving a dog sled, lunch, followed by something warm to drink, will be served by an open fire; before we prepare for the excursion; 2,5-3 hours driving with dogs ans sled across the Norwegian mountain landscape. The sole thing we will hear, will be the sound of the sled running through the snow, and the breathing from the dogs.
When the sun sets and the chill of the night is coming, it is time to go indoors.
We prepare an exciting 3 course dinner and enjoy the meal together, before we sit down in front of the fire place to enjoy our coffee and something to go with it.
For the vigorous participants of our group, the outdoor hot tub will be heated. If the atmosphere is good and the participants are interested Silvia will show slides from the Yukon Quest, where she’s been participating twice.
The 1600 km long Yukon Quest across Alaska, is the world’s toughest dog sled race. After a good nights sleep, a hearty breakfast will be served, before the participants will be transferred back to Varland.

Price: 2.100 Nrk pr. Person

The price includes  Transfer from Varland to Varmevoll to Varland , by snowmobile. Stay overnight in a for bed room. Lunch, three course dinner, breakfast, Outdoor tub , One excursions by dog sled.

The Trip may be cancelled, due to bad weather conditions.
